Overview

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business based in Dallas, operating the largest system in Texas. The Apprentice role involves construction and maintenance of distribution lines under supervision, ensuring safety and compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures.
  • Work under the direction of others and with the approval of the supervising authority.
  • Utilize approved protective equipment and tools while working with energized conductors and equipment.
  • Be available for on-call rotation and overtime work.
  • Travel outside assigned district when needed.
  • Work off wood poles, insulated platforms, and bucket trucks using safety practices.
  • Lift 75 pounds above head regularly.
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct and participate in local safety programs.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL driver's license is required.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • 4 plus years of related distribution utility construction work experience is encouraged to apply.
  • Certificate or degree from an accredited lineman school is encouraged to apply.
  • Associate's degree in electrical technology or related field is encouraged to apply.
  • Proof of successful lineman and safety training programs is required.
  • Demonstrate skills needed to advance in the Oncor Lineman Training Program.

  • Position is on-site at the Dallas Southwest Service Center.
  • Successful candidate must live within 60 minutes of the service center, with 30 minutes or less preferred.
