Overview

The Targeting Operator Trainee is responsible for placing and balancing aluminum and magnesium castings in target fixtures, ensuring they meet specified tolerances, and performing inspections as outlined in work instructions. The role requires physical capability to lift and manipulate castings while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Track and record labor time and production quantities accurately into JobBOSS and onto production travelers.
  • Wear all required personal protective safety equipment.
  • Use and maintain all safety equipment and devices in the work center.
  • Inspect castings and routing prior to performing the target operation and reject nonconforming parts.
  • Understand and meet job specifications, production standards, and work instructions.
  • Inspect fixtures, drills, bushings, and nose pieces for wear and report out of tolerance conditions.
  • Mount and balance castings in target fixtures and check plates as specified.
  • Target castings as specified.
  • Inspect height gages, verniers, and pin gages for wear and report out of tolerance conditions.
  • Check and record dimensions as specified and reject castings that do not meet specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Handle all tools and equipment with care.
  • Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management.
  • Understand customer requirements and internal challenges related to scrap and rework.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Oral, written, and technical communication skills.
  • Basic shop math and ability to read blueprints.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills are beneficial.
  • Prior machine shop work-related experience is a plus.
