Overview

The Illinois Tollway is focused on providing a safe and efficient highway system while ensuring high service levels for customers. The Mechanical Electrical position involves performing building maintenance functions, including preventive and emergency maintenance of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance of stationary equipment including gas or oil-fired boilers and HVAC systems.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance checks of equipment and perform major repairs.
  • Maintain and repair plumbing, water valves, water softeners, drains, and related piping.
  • Install, test, repair, and maintain electrical motors, fixtures, light bulbs, switches, and appliances.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, and layouts as necessary.
  • Guide, train, or direct other employees on various projects.
  • Be available for twenty-four (24) hour emergency call out.
  • Use various hand and power tools and measuring instruments safely.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A Class A CDL permit with an endorsement for air brakes is required.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and layouts.
  • Must maintain a high level of skill through training or courses.
  • Ability to use various hand and power tools and measuring instruments.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Must pass a written examination to qualify for an interview.

  • Work hours are 7:00AM-3:00PM Monday through Friday.
  • Location is E02 (11505 W. Cermak, Hillside, IL 60162).
