Overview

ConnectDER is a dynamic, venture-backed company based in Philadelphia, PA, focused on resource technology product development, particularly in clean energy solutions. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to drive the development of innovative products that enhance the efficiency of solar energy, EV charging, and home battery storage.

Responsibilities

• Drive medium-sized mechanical designs autonomously from initial concept through manufacturing hand-off.
• Create 3D CAD models, tolerance analyses, detailed part/assembly drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Break down complex engineering scope into manageable tasks and track progress against estimates.
• Own early-stage product testing by developing test procedures and evaluating system capabilities.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize data into clear test reports.
• Fabricate, 3D print, and modify components to build prototype units.
• Build prototype and sample units for product evaluation and marketing.
• Present technical decisions and risks during design reviews and planning sessions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align on implementation details.
• Serve as a technical role model and provide guidance to junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-5 years of direct relevant experience.
• Proven capability in 3D CAD modeling, preferably Solidworks.
• Hands-on experience in product design, specifically in plastic part design.
• Experience in rapid prototyping and testing.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
• Experience designing injection molded parts.
• Background in the electrical utility, ANSI metering, or renewable energy grid integration industries.

Additional Information

• This is a full-time position based in Philadelphia, PA.
• Requires at least 3 days per week in-office, with a strong preference for 5 days on-site.
• Requires 5% travel.
