Overview

We are seeking a Plant Quality Engineer to join our federal team at our York, PA location. This position is responsible for providing day to day quality engineering support within the Grantley Plant facility, primarily in the Welding, Fabrication and Assembly Areas, contributing to the growth and improvement of the JCNS business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the Grantley Plant.
  • Lead and participate on continuous improvement teams to reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ) and increase product flow.
  • Support COPQ metrics and analysis for CI teams.
  • Generate various reporting metrics for scrap and rework, and first pass yield.
  • Support the management and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Participate and support the Material Review Board.
  • Conduct measurement systems analysis and process capability studies as required.
  • Work with customer service to address product issues and warranty problems.
  • Assist in the development and revisions to procedures and standard work.
  • Develop inspection plans for verification of manufactured and purchased components.
  • Perform first article dimensional reviews for both internal and externally manufactured parts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Weld Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace) with 2 or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in welding NDT inspection methods (MT, PT, VT, UT) is a plus.
  • QMS knowledge and experience with ISO 9000, TS 16949, or AS 9100 is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, minitab or other quality data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, process capability, data analysis, measurement systems analysis, GD&T, and blueprint reading skills.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and proven leadership/team building skills.
  • Formal Lean and/or 6-Sigma training with significant demonstrated accomplishments is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate and lead product quality, process and system improvement teams.
