Overview

The Transmission Line Mechanic D position involves assisting in the installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. The role requires operating line trucks and auxiliary equipment while adhering to safety regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules, regulations and practices.
• Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect conductors, fixtures, and other associated equipment on overhead facilities.
• Demonstrate the ability to operate Company equipment, climb poles and structures, and work from bucket trucks or ladders.
• Supply employees working aloft with necessary tools and equipment.
• Assist in setting poles, including in energized areas with proper safety procedures.
• Cut, spray or stack trees and brush for transmission right-of-way control.
• Assist in the use of live line tools and other accepted work methods under supervision.
• Operate automotive equipment and perform duties incidental to its operation.
• Operate line trucks with various equipment and transport employees and materials.
• Identify personal protective equipment and its purpose.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean condition.
• Maintain records and submit reports as required.
• Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
• Attend and participate in training and assist in training other employees.
• Perform similar or less skilled work.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• No previous work experience required; line work experience or line school education is preferred.
• Must live within 30 miles of the service location.
• Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work as required.
• Travel requirements expected to be greater than 50% of the time.
• Must demonstrate the ability and desire to acquire necessary knowledge and skills.
• Must obtain a valid commercial driver's license before the end of the probationary period.
• Must possess the ability to deal courteously with employees, customers, and the public.
• Must successfully complete Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

• Distance to climb and work on a ladder/structure is 100 feet and higher.
• Distance to ascend to and work in a bucket/lift is 150 feet and higher.
