Overview

The Station Electrician C-A position involves performing various tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. The role requires responding to emergencies and ensuring the safety and efficiency of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts.
• Assist in work on conductors and equipment energized at voltages above 750 volts after six months.
• Select proper prints and/or drawings for various work.
• Use voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, and other test equipment.
• Assist in disassembling, reassembling, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing station transformers and circuit breakers.
• Install and maintain station batteries and replace nitrogen bottles and air filters.
• Assist in installing conduit, pipe, cable, and wire.
• Use hand lines to pass tools and materials and dig and backfill trenches.
• Assist in making visual inspections and report abnormal conditions.
• Replace lamps, switches, and install and maintain signal and communication systems.
• Assist in various tests involving oil samples and electrical tests.
• Assist in station switching and checking equipment clearances.
• Maintain records and prepare reports as required.
• Attend and participate in training and assist in training other employees.
• Operate company vehicles, cranes, aerial lifts, and specialized equipment.
• Use hand and power tools and inspect and store personal protective equipment.
• Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Equivalent education and experience limited to military training and work experience of technical/technician nature.
• No previous work experience required.
• Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work.
• Travel requirements expected to be over 50% of the time.
• Must satisfactorily complete all required training to advance to the next higher classification.
• Must have the ability and desire to acquire necessary knowledge and skills.
• Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to plan work and instruct others.
• Must obtain a valid commercial driver's license before the end of the probationary period.
• Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.
• Must successfully complete Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

Additional Information

• Physical demands include lifting weights up to 75 pounds and climbing heights of 50 feet or more.
• Considerable travel and overtime may be required.
