Overview

PALA Interstate, LLC is seeking skilled and versatile combo welders with expertise in various welding processes, including flux core, TIG, stick, and arc gouge welding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for welding in multiple positions on various materials while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks using flux core, TIG, stick, and arc gouge welding processes on a variety of materials.
  • Complete welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Clean and prepare welds for inspection by removing slag, splatter, and BB’s.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, ensuring they meet PALA standards and project specifications.
  • Proficiently utilize an angle grinder and end grinder.
  • Read and interpret WPS’s, blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Assemble metal components and structures using appropriate welding techniques and tools.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and workspace in a clean and organized manner.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair any welding issues that arise during fabrication or assembly.

Requirements

  • Minimum four years’ experience as a certified welder, or two years’ experience as a certified welder plus two years’ ABC or equivalent training.
  • Experienced in stick and TIG pipe welding.
  • Experienced in welding carbon, stainless steel, and various alloys.
  • Must pass required welding test as required by the specific job site.
  • High School or GED preferred but not required.
  • Trade School program preferred but not required.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for TIG and Flux-Core work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds. Flux-cored (FCAW) runs a hollow wire filled with flux, combining MIG-like deposition rates with the outdoor tolerance of stick. It is the workhorse on heavy structural steel and shipbuilding, where thick sections and long welds reward speed.
