Overview

The Airport Maintenance Worker position at Los Angeles County involves performing maintenance and repair work on airport facilities and equipment. The role requires a combination of technical skills and physical labor, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of airport infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Use stationary and hand power tools for construction and repair work.
  • Operate and maintain power equipment like tow-graders and tractors.
  • Make additions, alterations, and repairs to airport buildings.
  • Perform fence installation, runway lighting installation, and drainage construction.
  • Mix, place, and finish cement and asphaltic concrete for airport surfaces.
  • Make minor repairs to airport utilities including water, sewer, and electrical systems.
  • Oversee Airport Service Workers as a lead worker when needed.
  • Operate crash rescue vehicles and firefighting equipment during emergencies.
  • Provide first aid and notify authorities in case of an aircraft accident.
  • Perform the duties of an Airport Service Worker as needed.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in maintenance and repair of airport facilities and equipment.
  • A Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate is required.
  • A valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation method.
