Overview

Viasat is on a mission to deliver connections that change the world, seeking individuals who think big and act fearlessly. The Field Installer role involves installing and testing Remote Sensing Antenna Systems and Satellite Communications Terminals while providing customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
  • Install Viasat antenna ground stations both domestically and internationally.
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing work and recommend solutions to technical problems.
  • Test antenna performance to specifications.
  • Maintain good customer relations and work as part of a diverse team.
  • Supervise contractors during site installs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience and a Technical Associates Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly of large-scale systems involving mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand civil drawings.
  • Ability to read and follow mechanical fabrication drawings.
  • Working knowledge of general construction safety processes, procedures, and requirements.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with cross-functional teams, including contractors and multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to work under pressure and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Experience resolving problems from design engineering to production assembly.
  • Mechanical aptitude to supervise rigging and direct cranes up to 200-ton capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently to identify problems and devise solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and proficiency in supporting dynamic project schedules.
  • Ability to pass skills testing for grip and static strength, dynamic lifting, and work/positional tolerance.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel 75% or more on domestic and international installations.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to come into the office in Duluth, GA.
