Overview

The Lead Field Service Technician will support fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. This role requires excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills, as it involves significant interaction with customer personnel and lift truck operators.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet.
• Conduct specialized service procedures, including retrofits and upgrades.
• Provide emergency support service to customers as required.
• Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service.
• Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage and fueling systems.
• Communicate with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding support.
• Provide feedback to regional service representatives on fuel cell performance.
• Complete administrative duties, including incident reports and service logs.
• Enforce safety procedures in the field or at customer sites.
• Travel as required for business needs.
• Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
• Three or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Must possess a valid driver license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly unassisted.
• Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is preferred.
• General mechanical aptitude is required.
• Proficient in computer and software systems including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication with diverse audiences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Creativity in solving technical problems.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Technician must provide own standard set of tools.
