Overview

Austin Industrial is a leading provider of maintenance, construction, and soft craft services to industrial companies across the U.S. The Boilermaker position involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Examine boilers and pressure vessels to locate defects for repair.
• Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
• Inspect assembled vessels and components for defects.
• Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
• Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift heavy sections.
• Ensure leakproof joints by welding pressure vessel tube ends.
• Lay out and mark bending and cutting lines on heavy metal.
• Install various components in water tube boilers using hand tools.
• Study blueprints to determine dimensions and relationships of parts.
• Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or parts.
• Shape seams and edges of pressure vessel sections for fit.
• Position and secure structural parts to boiler frames following blueprints.
• Mark reference points for columns or plates on boiler foundations.
• Fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels or piping using machines.
• Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and solvents.
• Install refractory materials in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
• Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.

Requirements

• No minimum education requirements.
• 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.
• NCCER certification.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• TWIC Card.

• Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
• Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments.
• Employees must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
