Overview

The Maintenance Technician I supports FedEx Industrial Maintenance for material handling, focusing on preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems. The role involves troubleshooting mechanical power transmission, electrical systems, PLC/controls, and welding/fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems.
  • Diagnose simple mechanical power transmission issues visually or audibly at the single component level.
  • Adhere to safety standards and promote a safe work environment.
  • Require assistance/supervision in preventative/corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in smaller scope projects as needed.
  • Work a flexible schedule including all days and shifts as business needs dictate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude through background or hobbies in technical areas.
  • Two years of FedEx Operations Sortation equipment knowledge or enrollment in a related certificate or degree program.
  • Related military technical experience and electrical or mechanical trade experience will be considered.
  • Possess basic mechanical aptitude and basic electrical and mechanical skills preferred.
  • Ability to solve basic mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Software skills, including Microsoft Office suite.

  • Will need to use hand tools and possibly power tools.
  • May be working in hot or cold temperatures.
  • May need to stand, walk, bend, stoop and squat.
