Overview

Magellan Aerospace is a global aerospace company with over 80 years of experience, providing complex assemblies and systems solutions. They are seeking an N/C & Conventional Grinder Operator to set up, operate, and maintain grinding machines for high-precision aerospace components.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate N/C/CNC grinding machines for aerospace components.
  • Set up and operate conventional/manual grinding machines.
  • Interpret complex aerospace blueprints and GD&T requirements.
  • Select appropriate grinding wheels and tooling based on aerospace materials.
  • Perform precision grinding operations to tight tolerances.
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments for compliance.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools.
  • Perform wheel dressing, balancing, and machine setup.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections according to quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and traceability records.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical training preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC/NC and conventional grinding machines.
  • Strong understanding of grinding processes and aerospace materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100.
  • CNC programming or G-code editing experience.
  • Certification in machining or manufacturing technology.
  • Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control).
