Overview

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department is one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, serving 1.5 million customers. They are seeking a Machinist to fabricate and repair complex metal components for water and wastewater treatment equipment, ensuring high-quality standards and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and repair complex metal components for water and wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Operate standard machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, shapers, and planers.
  • Produce precise parts according to detailed specifications.
  • Cut and repair specialized threads, including ACME and standard machine threads.
  • Maintain strict tolerances and complete work under tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as a skilled machinist AND completion of a recognized machinist apprenticeship program, OR three years of experience as a skilled machinist.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the machinist's trade.
  • Ability to work safely and cooperatively with others.
  • Physical ability to remain standing for extended periods, make fine muscular movements, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
