Overview

Pennoni is seeking a QA Welding Inspection Supervisor to oversee Quality Assurance inspection services for structural steel fabrication and related materials in the Northeastern USA. The role involves supervising inspection personnel, ensuring compliance with standards, and coordinating with clients and fabrication facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for QA inspection staff supporting DOT projects.
  • Offer technical guidance to inspectors and perform shop audits.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor performance and progress.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of inspection personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT specifications, AASHTO, AWS codes, and contract requirements.
  • Review inspection reports and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify that fabrication, welding, and coating processes meet required standards.
  • Ensure timely submission of deliverables.
  • Act as a key technical resource for welding procedures and nondestructive testing.
  • Participate in prefabrication meetings and contribute to QA/QC planning.
  • Mentor inspection staff to promote consistency and technical excellence.
  • Liaise between Pennoni, clients, and fabrication facilities.
  • Coordinate responses to client comments, audits, and technical inquiries.
  • Support staffing and resource planning efforts.
  • Confirm accuracy and compliance of project documentation.
  • Maintain internal quality control records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of eight years of QA/QC inspection experience.
  • One to three years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience supporting DOT or similar transportation agencies.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Applicable ASNT Level II or III certifications (UT, MT, RT, or PT).
  • AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector certification.
  • OSHA 10 safety training.
  • Strong technical knowledge of DOT specifications and related codes.
  • Practical experience in structural steel fabrication and inspection.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
