Overview

The Welder II (HVAC Piping) is a skilled craftsperson responsible for fabricating, welding, assembling, and installing high-quality piping systems for HVAC and related mechanical applications. This role requires expertise in precision welding and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, fit, align, and install piping systems for HVAC and mechanical applications.
  • Perform high-quality welds using primarily TIG (GTAW) and Stick (SMAW) welding processes.
  • Read, interpret, and work from detailed blueprints, isometric drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Measure, cut, bevel, thread, groove, and prepare pipe ends and fittings using various tools.
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain welding equipment, performing pre- and post-weld preparations.
  • Inspect materials for defects and ensure proper alignment and joint preparation.
  • Conduct visual inspections and non-destructive testing on completed welds.
  • Install, repair, and modify valves, flanges, hangers, supports, and related piping accessories.
  • Identify and correct improper fit-ups and collaborate with other trades to resolve challenges.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Document work as required, including weld logs and quality records.
  • Travel to project sites as assigned, including out-of-town jobs and non-standard hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project timelines.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for TIG and Stick work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. Stick (SMAW) burns a flux-coated consumable rod and needs no shielding gas, so it works in wind, rain, and on dirty or rusted steel.
