Job Description

Overview

The Civil Construction Craftsman position involves performing various concrete-related tasks in a safe environment while traveling extensively within the United States. Candidates must have relevant experience and skills in concrete finishing, formwork, and reinforcing steel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist carpenters with unloading, positioning, erecting, stripping, cleaning, oiling, and loading forms.
  • Achieve smooth uniform finishes in concrete work and maintain tools and finishing equipment.
  • Assist rod busters with unloading, positioning, installing, and loading rebar.
  • Perform basic foundation layouts using lasers and transits.

Requirements

  • Must create a safe environment for all employees.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a TWIC card or the ability to obtain one.
  • Must have experience with large concrete placements and tank foundations.
  • Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of concrete finishing experience.
  • Must be able to prepare and set forms for foundations, slabs, and retaining walls.
  • Must be able to place, spread, and level concrete using hand tools, straightedges, and screeds.
  • Must be able to operate finishing tools and equipment and apply surface treatments.
  • Must be able to cut rebar and place expansion and control joints as required.
  • Must have knowledge in foundation and framework systems.
  • Must be physically capable of carrying 60 to 75 pounds and standing for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
  • Must pass a post-hire physical and a substance abuse test.

Additional Information

  • The work schedule is Monday through Saturday, often ten hours a day.
  • Overtime is required as dictated by the customer.
  • Extensive travel within the United States is required, with significant time away from home.
  • Working conditions vary from clear and open to congested and tight, and include outdoor work in all types of weather.
