Overview

Granite Construction is seeking a Carpenter to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures using various materials and tools while adhering to local building codes. The company values its employees as its most important asset and is committed to building a strong future together.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for material and dimension information.
  • Select specified types of lumber or other materials.
  • Prepare layouts using tools like rules and framing squares.
  • Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials.
  • Shape materials to prescribed measurements using saws and chisels.
  • Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together.
  • Verify the trueness of structures with plumb bobs and levels.
  • Erect frameworks for structures and lay subflooring.
  • Build stairs and install partitions and cabinet work.
  • Cover subfloor with building paper and lay various types of flooring.
  • Apply decorative paneling to ceilings and walls.
  • Fit and install prefabricated window frames, doors, and trim.
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Appropriate training and experience required.
  • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
  • Ability to plan work and select proper tools.
  • Ability to compare and see differences in size, shape, and form.
  • Ability to picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties that may change often.
