Overview

A Schuff Steel Team Leader supervises and coordinates production employees in the fabrication of steel materials and parts, ensuring safety and production standards are met. The role requires expertise in steel materials and experience with cranes, rigging, and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures production staff adheres to all safety standards through training and accountability.
  • Provides guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to meet production and quality standards.
  • Communicates the vision of project objectives to the team.
  • Motivates and holds the team accountable.
  • Provides training to production staff as needed.
  • Holds employees accountable to established production and quality standards.
  • Encourages constant improvement and leads by example.
  • Adheres to and follows all safety rules and PPE requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and at least three years of directly related experience.
  • Completion of a closely related vocational training course may substitute for one year of required experience.
  • Knowledge of welding and steel-working processes and equipment, including cranes and rigging, forklifts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and safety documents.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Ability to understand safe operation of machinery in a steel fabrication environment.
