Overview

WSP is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join their US Mining & Metal, Process & Infrastructure Design team, providing technical assistance for various infrastructure projects. The position is available in Tempe, AZ, South Jordan, UT, or Tucson, AZ, depending on candidate preference.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance with data collection and analysis for project development.
  • Apply structural and civil engineering techniques to improve project phases.
  • Conduct research and inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Manage design, construction, rehabilitation, and remediation of projects.
  • Incorporate advanced technologies and strategies for safety and functionality.
  • Oversee cross-functional teams to execute project work.
  • Coordinate and approve building and infrastructure design plans.
  • Prepare data visualizations and technical reports for presentations.
  • Analyze site investigation data for risk mitigation.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans.
  • Interact professionally with regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Collaborate on improvement and development projects.
  • Stay current with structural engineering techniques.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Engineer license required.
  • Proficient with structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Working knowledge of sustainability concepts.
  • Knowledge of structural and civil construction laws and regulations.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and investigations.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated self-leadership and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and guide junior team members.
  • Proficient with technical writing and design software.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and direct subcontractors.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
