Overview

As a Structural Design Engineer Senior at Lockheed Martin, you will apply your technical expertise to solve complex aircraft design challenges and deliver innovative airframe solutions for military aircraft. This role emphasizes collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-performance airframe structures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop airframe structure designs that meet customer requirements, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Create preliminary layouts for installations, assemblies, and detailed parts.
  • Conduct design reviews and communicate progress with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with support organizations such as stress analysis, manufacturing, tooling, and supply-chain management.
  • Support manufacturing operations and resolve technical issues related to aircraft structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, or high school diploma with equivalent experience.
  • Experience in CAD systems such as CATIA V5, NX, SolidWorks.
  • Experience with metallic or composite structural design.
  • Familiarity with mod/kit design and legacy aircraft programs.
  • Aerospace design experience with knowledge of configuration management techniques and drafting/drawing conventions.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, people and team skills.
  • Proven history of strong work habits and a positive attitude.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • C-130 experience.
