Overview

The Structural Design Engineer - Level 2 position at Lockheed Martin involves applying technical expertise to solve complex aircraft design challenges and deliver high-performance airframe structures for military aircraft. The role emphasizes collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and supports the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing for Military Aircraft program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop airframe structure designs that meet customer requirements, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Create preliminary layouts for installations, assemblies, and detailed parts.
  • Conduct design reviews and communicate progress with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with support organizations to ensure successful implementation.
  • Support manufacturing operations and resolve technical issues related to aircraft structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, or high school diploma with equivalent experience.
  • Experience in CAD systems (e.g. CATIA V5, NX, SolidWorks, CCD etc.).
  • Experience with design.
  • Familiarity with mod / kit design.
  • Production line support experience.
  • Familiarity with legacy aircraft programs and legacy drawing interpretation.
  • Aerospace design experience with knowledge of configuration management techniques.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, people and team skills.
  • Proven history of strong work habits and a positive attitude.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • C-130 experience.
