Overview

WSP is seeking an experienced Substation Structural Engineer for their Duluth, GA office, with consideration for Baton Rouge, LA. The role involves providing technical assistance and guidance for structural engineering solutions in electrical substation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional structural engineering work supporting electrical substation projects.
  • Prepare structural calculations, design criteria, and calculation packages.
  • Develop construction specifications, cost estimates, and technical inputs for proposals.
  • Produce and review structural drawings and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional disciplines for integrated substation design solutions.
  • Utilize structural analysis and finite element modeling tools.
  • Maintain quality control standards and perform QA/QC reviews of structural deliverables.
  • Support Project Managers and Project Engineers with reporting needs.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide support during construction.
  • Assist with scoping and execution of small- to medium-sized tasks.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior team members.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in structural engineering.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, etc.).
  • Experience with structural analysis and/or finite element modeling software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing and engineering software tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
