Overview

The Structural Engineer position focuses on the engineering of construction projects, systems, or components under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. The role involves directing other engineers, performing structural designs, and ensuring quality control of engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural engineering design of temporary structures used in construction and demolition.
  • Design construction procedures for erection and demolition plans.
  • Evaluate existing and proposed permanent structures for temporary loads and conditions.
  • Conduct design assist and value engineering reviews of permanent structural systems.
  • Prepare analysis, calculations, details, plans, and reports for engineering responsibilities.
  • Perform quality control reviews of plans and documentation prepared by other engineers.
  • Support preconstruction teams by identifying and evaluating risks and exploring new technologies.
  • Evaluate out-of-specification work and develop remediations for issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5 - 12 years of engineering and design experience.
  • Bridge design experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Professional Engineering Licensure within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience designing to AISC and/or ACI requirements.
  • Familiarity with IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, AWC, AISI, and AASHTO codes.
  • Experience in analysis and design of reinforced concrete and/or structural steel systems.
  • Solid engineering judgment and reasoning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal teams.
  • Proficient in MicroStation, Autocad, and/or other drawing software.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
