Job Description
Overview
Commonwealth Waste Transportation is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator with strong mechanical aptitude to join their growing team. This hands-on position involves working on a fleet of walking floor trailers and off-road heavy equipment, performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and custom upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Weld and fabricate using both steel and aluminum
- Perform structural repairs and modifications to walking floor trailers
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on trailers and off-road heavy equipment
- Complete preventative maintenance and equipment upgrades
- Perform field service repairs using a fully equipped company service truck
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
Requirements
- Proven experience welding steel and aluminum
- Strong fabrication skills with the ability to read measurements and work from plans or concepts
- Mechanical experience with heavy equipment, trailers, hydraulic systems or commercial vehicles
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and structural components
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL-A or B a plus)
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
