Overview

Fisher Industries is a family of businesses involved in aggregate production and heavy civil construction. The Fabrication Welder – Stainless Steel will join metal using various techniques, primarily focusing on new equipment assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stainless steel welding using GMAW and GTAW processes.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols to fabricate components accurately.
  • Measure, cut and prepare materials (bend, cut, drill, tap, etc.).
  • Assemble mechanical components and fabricated parts to meet design specifications.
  • Perform proper fit-up alignment and tacking prior to final welding.
  • Conduct leak tests on pressure equipment, tanks, or vessels.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently including overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet production deadlines.
  • Wear safety clothing and use protective equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • 1+ years of welding/shop experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with your hands.
  • Basic math and design skills.
  • Technical capacity.

What you'll be running

TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
