Overview

The Pipe Welder 1/Class position involves performing pipe welding tasks in accordance with specifications, ensuring safety and quality. The role requires significant experience in the ship repair industry and the ability to work in various environments, including aboard marine vessels.

Responsibilities

  • Certify to IAW GTAW and SMAW procedures and produce first pass yield on any piping system.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements for hot work and maintain updated work tickets.
  • Verify that job site conditions are safe and compliant with regulations.
  • Ensure proper safety equipment and procedures are followed during welding tasks.
  • Assign and maintain fire watches during hot work.
  • Ensure a clean and safe job site prior to departure.
  • Complete a 30-minute cool down period in hot work areas.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a first-class pipe fitter in the ship repair industry.
  • Must possess all necessary tools for pipe welding.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to weld certify IAW Mil-Std-248 in various metal groups.
  • Working knowledge of pipe joint design IAW Mil-Std 22D.
  • Must pass visual acuity and color vision tests.
