Overview

Axiom Space is a human space exploration company focused on building space infrastructure and delivering technology-driven solutions. They are seeking a bold and dynamic Mechanical Technician responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of Ground Support Equipment and facility hardware.

Responsibilities

• Read and accurately interpret engineering models, blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly prints, and schematics.
• Mentor less experienced technicians.
• Operate machines and/or use hand tools and power tools.
• Setup and operate precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and optical measuring instruments.
• Stage, assemble, install, and inspect spacecraft mechanical, electrical, and fluid components.
• Operate material/hardware handling equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Perform assembly and checkouts of ground support equipment and facility equipment related to spacesuit operations.
• Collaborate with engineers and teams to develop and document assembly work instructions and hardware processing procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance functions to maintain clean work areas and safety guidelines.
• Proactively identify issues and problems and make recommendations.
• Take ownership of personal and team performance to promote continuous improvement.
• Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field preferred.
• 5-10 years of professional experience in the aviation or aerospace industry.
• Experience in general aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication.
• Piping and tubing routing and installation experience.
• Test facilities/rig fabrication, operation, and maintenance experience.
• Instrumentation and electrical harness routing, installation, and checkout experience.
• Mechanical and fluids Ground Support Equipment operation experience.
• Familiarity with pressure systems.
• Familiarization with metallic and non-metallic hardware assembly.
• Proficient in the use of various tools and equipment.
• Track record of making things happen in fast-moving environments.
• Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines.

Additional Information

• This position may require access to export controlled technical data subject to regulations.
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
