Overview

The Field Service Technician role involves interfacing with internal teams and customers to ensure the safe operation, testing, and maintenance of NOV Service Equipment products. The position requires travel to customer sites for inspections, installations, and repairs, emphasizing problem-solving and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with internal team to understand NOV Service Equipment products and their operation.
  • Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair, and train customers on NOV products.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment improvements for better availability and yield.
  • Conduct equipment failure analyses and troubleshoot problems.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting equipment modifications and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform field upgrades of software and hardware and train customers.
  • Communicate field failures and feedback to appropriate departments.
  • Provide clear and accurate service reporting upon completion of service.
  • Plan and schedule daily, weekly, and monthly events independently.
  • Interact with internal and external customers daily, demonstrating organizational and project management skills.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV company and HSE policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school education in mechanical or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Oilfield, Rig or Industrial Mechanic or similar role.
  • Experience servicing tools relevant to the position.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Leadership qualities and self-motivation with customer interaction skills.
  • Adherence to all HSE requirements.
  • Ability to work in a factory environment with high noise levels and other conditions.
  • Professional communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Availability for non-standard work hours and 24/7 operational support.
  • Compliance with Global and Local QHSE policies.
  • Professional and ethical behavior in line with corporate policies.
