Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for servicing and maintaining electro-mechanical equipment at the Houston facility, including robotic washlines, autoclaves, and boilers. This role also involves overseeing custodial staff and training Maintenance Specialists to support site operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, service, and repair of on-site equipment.
  • Communicate with the Service and Engineering team to arrange spare parts and travel schedules.
  • Assemble, align, and install equipment and machine upgrades as necessary.
  • Provide 24/7 monitoring of equipment via phone support with rapid response as needed.
  • Routinely inspect equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Manage a team of 2-3 custodial and entry-level maintenance specialists.
  • Assist with other leadership functions in the building as needed.
  • Communicate with facility leadership to arrange planned downtime for maintenance.
  • Record data and keep logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities.
  • Provide remote support to plant facilities outside of the region.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory at the Houston facility.
  • Cover for other Supervisors and Managers during callouts or vacations.

Requirements

  • Must have a current third-grade stationary engineer license.
  • Maintenance experience in mechanical assemblies, boilers, autoclaves, and production equipment.
  • Welding experience and basic repair work skills.
  • Ability to identify and repair electrical issues.
  • Experience supervising employees in entry-level roles is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC controlled machines.
  • Proficient in using computers, tablets, and smart devices.
  • Knowledge of medical waste processing center operations.

Additional Information

  • This role entails 24/7 emergency monitoring of boiler systems.
  • Typical work week is Monday – Friday, but maintenance may be required on evenings or weekends.
