Overview

Weee! is the largest and fastest-growing ethnic e-grocer in the United States, focusing on affordable access to ethnic food. The Refrigeration Operator role is a part-time position in Clifton, NJ, responsible for maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems and ensuring optimal operation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ammonia refrigeration and freon-based cooling systems.
• Operate single, two-stage, and cascade ammonia systems.
• Monitor and identify abnormal operating pressures and temperatures.
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment.
• Handle plumbing and repairs as needed.
• Follow OSHA and EPA guidelines for hazardous materials.
• Document system readings and provide reports.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns of refrigeration systems.
• Procure quotations for repairs and construction projects.
• Train personnel on routine checks and SOPs.
• Act on emergency and system malfunction situations.
• Ensure all refrigeration equipment is functioning safely.
• Assist in record-keeping and training compliance.

Requirements

• Must possess a Blue Seal Toxic To Operating license issued by the state of New Jersey.
• 5+ years of ammonia and freon-based refrigeration experience.
• 4+ years of experience in cooling processes within food processing and storage.
• Experience with screw and reciprocating compressors.
• Work experience in ammonia system pump-downs and repairs.
• Knowledge of chemical testing for cooling towers and ammonia systems preferred.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to understand refrigeration blueprints and P&ID.
• Hazmat Responder Certification preferred.
• Trained in lock-out, tag-out, and safe work practices.
• Must be able to respond to emergencies 24/7.
