Overview

The Senior Repair Engineering Role involves developing repair solutions for gas turbine components while ensuring technical integrity and adherence to industry standards. The candidate will lead projects from quoting to inspection, focusing on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.
  • Provide technical input and oversight of projects including quoting, planning, preparation, and execution of gas turbine repairs.
  • Review customer specifications and provide comments on quality, inspection, and testing items.
  • Lead customer status calls and witness inspections as necessary.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement activities including best practices and safety culture.
  • Apply engineering and metallurgical principles in repair recommendations for turbomachinery.
  • Ensure repair processes maintain component metallurgical properties.
  • Provide technical oversight and in-process dispositions for repair projects.
  • Ensure technical integrity of work in the repair shop and improve methods and processes.
  • Support and lead reverse engineering of turbine components.
  • Execute service engineering assignments requiring standard techniques and procedures.
  • Perform liaison functions with other engineering team members.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
  • Possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering, metallurgy, or a technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting turbomachinery with a focus on combustion and/or hot gas path components.
  • Direct experience with GE and/or Westinghouse legacy frame components is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of component wear and failure modes and their impact on inspection.
  • Knowledge of repair methods such as machining, welding, and coating for turbine equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of metallurgy, material selection, and heat treatments.
  • Basic knowledge of non-destructive inspection and testing techniques.
  • Knowledge of standard drawing symbols and tolerances (GD&T) and ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Basic CAD and FEA abilities; Solidworks experience is a plus.
  • Highly effective people skills and ability to work with diverse workgroups.
  • Effective and creative problem solver.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to anticipate and meet customer needs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
