Overview

Road & Rail Services is seeking an experienced Traveling Railcar Repair Technician based in Fulton County, Georgia. This full-time, field-based position requires previous freight railcar repair experience and welding capabilities, with the flexibility to travel to various work locations.

Responsibilities

  • Examine freight railcars for structural damage, defects, wear, and maintenance concerns
  • Determine repair needs based on inspection findings
  • Complete approved repairs to railcar components and equipment
  • Perform stick welding and other authorized welding procedures
  • Complete cutting, grinding, fabrication, and mechanical work
  • Service and lubricate components when required
  • Perform required railcar markings and stenciling
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other repair equipment safely
  • Maintain accurate inspection and repair documentation
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment as assigned
  • Keep work areas organized and free of unnecessary hazards
  • Complete repairs according to company, customer, and applicable AAR requirements
  • Follow all site-specific and railroad safety procedures

Requirements

  • Professional freight railcar repair or maintenance experience
  • Hands-on Welding Experience, Including Stick Welding
  • Familiarity with freight railcar components and repair practices
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience using welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Ability to understand repair instructions and complete required documentation
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining quality standards
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Reliable attendance and a safety-first approach
  • Previous 4G And 5G Welding Experience Is Strongly Preferred
