Overview

CGL is a provider of justice facility planning, design, and program management and maintenance solutions to justice facilities and other public facilities throughout the U.S. The General Trades Technician will provide general maintenance to facilities and building maintenance, being responsible for checking, troubleshooting, and making routine repairs in various maintenance areas.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment.
• Responds to service requests for electrical, HVAC systems, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other maintenance items.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure machines operate smoothly.
• Follows an established preventive maintenance program for heating and ventilation systems.
• Assists in emergency maintenance as required, including sewage backups and water leaks.
• Assembles, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical components, and plumbing.
• Checks blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
• Installs, maintains, evaluates, and repairs facility systems.
• Operates plant equipment and building automation systems.
• Maintains tools and equipment in ready repair and assists in inventory management.
• Understands proper use of equipment and chemicals and uses personal protective equipment.
• Reads blueprints and sketches to determine work and resources required.
• Maintains a clean and safe workplace according to safety procedures.
• Handles hazardous materials in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Ensures unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
• Completes compliance, safety, and developmental training as assigned.
• Available for on-call services as needed.
• Trains other technicians and provides mentorship.
• Submits work orders into the CMMS system per company policy.
