Overview

CGL is a provider of justice facility planning, design, and program management and maintenance solutions to justice facilities and other public facilities throughout the U.S. The General Trades Technician will provide general maintenance to facilities and building maintenance, performing routine repairs in various areas including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment.
• Responds to service requests including electrical, HVAC systems, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure smooth operation of machines.
• Follows an established preventive maintenance program for heating and ventilation systems.
• Assists in emergency maintenance including sewage back-ups and water leaks.
• Assembles, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical components, and plumbing.
• Checks blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
• Installs, maintains, evaluates, and repairs facility systems.
• Operates plant equipment and building automation systems.
• Maintains tools and equipment in ready repair and assists in inventory management.
• Understands proper use of equipment and chemicals, including PPE.
• Reads and utilizes blueprints and plans to determine work requirements.
• Maintains a clean and safe workplace following safety procedures.
• Handles hazardous materials in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Ensures unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
• Completes required compliance, safety, and developmental training.
• Available for on-call services as needed.
• Trains other technicians and provides mentorship.
• Submits work orders into the CMMS system as per policy.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years experience in building repairs and maintenance preferred.
• General knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and building maintenance.
• Ability to perform physical work and lift weights up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Willing and able to work occasional on-call shifts.
• Must be a team player with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Must be computer proficient.
• Self-motivated and able to multitask with excellent communication skills.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• EPA 608 Certification preferred.
• Skilled Trade Certification preferred.

• Position requires driving for the Company using either a Company vehicle or a Personal/Rental vehicle.
