Overview

The Injection Molding Equipment Reliability Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. This role involves troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and documentation to maximize production uptime and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Review overnight logs and machine status at the start of the shift.
  • Verify that injection molding cells are running to standard and fine-tune controls as needed.
  • Diagnose hydraulic, mechanical, or electrical faults to get production back online.
  • Advance the preventative maintenance program by scheduling PMs and writing procedures.
  • Capture maintenance tasks in clear records including installations and work orders.
  • Keep machine controls calibrated and confirm screws and barrels meet specifications.
  • Draft specifications and make purchasing recommendations for auxiliary gear.
  • Operate mobile equipment as needed, including forklifts and scissor lifts.
  • Support facility systems such as electrical distribution and plumbing.
  • Track parts, inventory, and maintenance expenses against budget.
  • Be on call 24/7 to tackle maintenance issues that threaten customer delivery commitments.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager to maximize uptime and utilization.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility and production equipment.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and sustain clean, orderly work areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 7+ years maintaining industrial equipment, including injection molding machines.
  • Hands-on industrial mechanical repair experience in hydraulics, motors, pumps, and related systems.
  • Solid electrical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and troubleshoot.
  • Proven ability to diagnose issues and deliver timely repairs.
  • Positive, self-driven approach with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to make fact-based decisions under time pressure.
  • Fluency in interpreting engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Competent with single- and three-phase motor diagnostics.
  • Ability to work independently and lead improvement efforts.
