Overview

The Manual Machinist position involves operating lathes and performing various machining tasks in a contract-to-hire role based in Houston, TX. The job requires mechanical experience and offers a pay rate of up to $32.00 per hour with additional benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Complete inbound inspection.
  • Log and update records of component conditions prior and after repair/machining operation.
  • Review samples or instructions to understand specifications of output.
  • Plan the sequence for the completion of a job.
  • Select appropriate tooling.
  • Segregate and mark product, components, and parts based on customer and internal requirements.
  • Take measurements and mark material for cutting or machining.
  • Repair/machine components with reference to drawings and specs.
  • Complete final inspection as directed.
  • Load and unload inspection racks and trucks.
  • Maintain machines, equipment, tooling, and shop supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Notify management of any issues related to the machines and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED - Trade school completion preferred.
  • Mechanical or Technical experience required.
  • Experience in operations of manual mills and lathes, preferably supporting the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing blueprints.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (e.g. micrometers, calipers etc.).
  • Experience operating a forklift, overhead and jib crane in a safe manner.
  • Knowledge of API, mud motor/downhole components and shop components.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Maintain professional communication and relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and pay close attention to details.
