Overview

Watco is seeking a Mechanical Technician in Houston, TX, to perform routine and preventative maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues, and complete timely repairs on equipment. The role requires strong technical skills and hands-on experience to ensure equipment remains safe and operational.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and safely use mechanical, power, and hydraulic tools to complete maintenance and repair tasks
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues on equipment
  • Remove, replace, and install mechanical components and parts as required
  • Assist operators with quick repairs to minimize equipment downtime
  • Monitor and maintain fuel levels upon operator request
  • Perform lubrication, battery testing, and replacement to keep equipment in optimal condition
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to extend equipment service life
  • Complete assigned maintenance duties and support other mechanical tasks as needed
  • Adhere to safety standards and company policies at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, or a related field required
  • Knowledge of and skills in mechanical maintenance
  • Knowledge of and skills in using hand tools, including screwdrivers, socket wrenches, torque wrenches, pry bars, and specialized mechanical tools
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain mechanical, power, and hydraulic tools
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, identify hazards, and maintain accurate maintenance records
  • Strong ability to collaborate with operators and coworkers, providing support for quick repairs and ensuring equipment reliability
  • TWIC, (Transportation Worker Identification Card) current or the ability to obtain and maintain one
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with High School or GED equivalent
  • Technical Training in Trade/Craft/Industry Certification, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred
