Overview

WSP is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to join their Power & Energy team, with opportunities to work on projects in various locations including Houston, TX, Seattle, WA, and others. The role involves contributing to power generation projects and being part of a globally recognized consulting firm focused on energy transition.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities.
  • Prepare mechanical equipment specifications, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Review vendor drawings and data, interfacing with suppliers and clients.
  • Prepare construction scopes of work for mechanical systems.
  • Participate in the development of PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Perform piping design activities including sizing and stress analysis.
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain quality control standards for measurements and reporting.
  • Assist with the development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations on design issues.
  • Assist in data analysis during field investigations.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements for documentation and training.
  • Stay current in mechanical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant post-education experience in mechanical design.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD.
  • Experience using Caesar II or AutoPipe.
  • Experience using Thermoflow.
  • Knowledge of mechanical system laws, codes, and compliance practices.
  • Ability to make technical computations and understand engineering principles.
  • Project management experience with small to mid-level projects.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and guide junior team members.
  • Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to direct others in the field safely and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
