Overview

Bechtel is seeking a Mechanical Field Engineer for the CCGT Area on the Cheyenne Power Hub Project, which is one of the largest gas-fired power generation facilities in the United States. The role involves performing construction field engineering within the mechanical discipline for balance of plant scopes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction drawings, sketches, and installation work packages for assigned CCGT scopes.
  • Assist in planning construction methods, installation sequence, and resource loading.
  • Prepare field change documents and requests for information.
  • Support verification of change notices and amendments.
  • Assemble cost estimates and review engineering bills of materials.
  • Initiate requisitions and quantity takeoffs for field purchased material.
  • Inspect material on receipt and track purchases in procurement systems.
  • Verify commodities on quantity tracking systems and validate installation.
  • Ensure zero accident philosophy and compliance with safety requirements.
  • Verify material quality and workmanship against codes and specifications.
  • Monitor delivery, storage, preservation, and installation of mechanical equipment.
  • Interface with discipline construction engineers and craft professionals.
  • Support equipment setting, alignment, and grouting activities.
  • Inspect and record installed components for technical acceptance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or international equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical construction, including rotating equipment and balance of plant systems.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including ASME B31.1.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Ability to walk the jobsite on uneven surfaces and use standard issued PPE.
  • Ability to work extended schedules and night shifts as required.
