Overview

The Mechanical Engineering department at Moog Gilbert seeks a motivated mechanical engineer to design and package spacecraft electronics, contributing directly to mission readiness and customer acceptance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop spacecraft avionics assemblies using SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
  • Develop closed-form and finite element model solutions to address structural and thermal requirements.
  • Produce detailed design reviews and analysis reports documenting design, structural, and thermal analyses.
  • Develop detailed test plans for hardware per customer requirements for vibration, shock, and thermal testing.
  • Assess mechanical integration/assembly issues and develop solutions for complex electronics assemblies.
  • Collaborate with systems, electrical design, manufacturing, test, and program management.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a Mechanical Engineering role with emphasis on design and/or structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Practical experience designing mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Experience with closed-form or finite element analysis of mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong ability to communicate ideas and results verbally and written.
