Overview

Sundt is a 100% employee-owned contractor that values a culture of ownership and investment in work. The Quality Engineer II is a mid-level professional responsible for enhancing project quality systems, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering project-specific quality training and onboarding for subcontractors and field crews.
  • Collaborate with construction and engineering teams to resolve quality-related issues in the field.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspectors and client quality representatives to ensure compliance.
  • Interpret and apply applicable codes and standards during field verification and testing.
  • Maintain accurate quality records including inspection reports and nonconformance reports.
  • Perform inspections of construction activities in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to Quality Engineer I and Quality Inspector personnel.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Project Quality Plans and Quality Control Procedures.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance/control, or construction inspection.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical field preferred.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to document technical issues clearly.
  • Proficient in quality documentation platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.
  • Field experience in structural steel erection, concrete placement, piping, welding, mechanical systems, or electrical QA/QC preferred.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Welding Inspector, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, NDT Level II, ICC or ACI certifications, NICET, and OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification are preferred.
