Overview

General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking five Pipefitters (J1 - J4) for their Pipe Shop located in Norfolk, Virginia. The role involves working on ship construction and repair, requiring access to Navy installations and shipyards.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches to install piping systems.
  • Perform shop prefab on piping systems using sketches/templates.
  • Understand tag out procedures for piping systems.
  • Sil-braze piping and perform pipe bending.
  • Hydrostatic test piping systems.
  • Fit and install mechanically attached fittings.
  • Thread piping and tap holes to proper sizes.
  • Prep piping for welding and install pipe hangers/supports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation.
  • Basic stick ruler measurements.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
  • Knowledge of various testing and obstructed flows.
  • Familiarity with WAFs.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and competent person tickets.

Additional Information

  • Position is for the 2nd shift.
  • Must be able to access all Navy installations and shipyards.
  • No security clearance is required.
  • Regular, reliable attendance on-site is essential.
