Overview

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a skilled journeyman welder pipefitter for the greater Phoenix, AZ area to support their mechanical group with large commercial projects. The company is a 100% employee-owned commercial construction firm known for its commitment to safety and high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), flux cored arc welding (FCAW), and tungsten inert gas welding (TIG).
  • Utilize proper equipment, materials, and supplies for civil construction projects.
  • Pass a 6G position welding test for carbon steel pipe.
  • Work in the prefabrication shop and out in the field.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with shop fabrication techniques and strategies.
  • Use a cutting torch effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in welding preferred.
  • Must have appropriate pipe certifications.
  • General knowledge of construction principles and processes required.
  • 6G Pipe Certified.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Proven commitment to safety and building relationships in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of aspects of surface preparation, electrode storage, and welding machine setup.
  • Must be self-motivated and dependable.

Additional Information

  • Pay rate is determined by current level of knowledge and experience.
  • $2.00 increase to base pay if licensed.
