Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains machine tools and industrial machines applying knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures.
  • Diagnoses why machine malfunctioned and determines need for adjustment or repair.
  • Dismantles machine or equipment, using hand tools or power tools, to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.
  • Replaces defective part with new part or repaired part.
  • Assembles and test-operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
  • Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
  • Assembles and welds auxiliary pieces of equipment as required.
  • Burns to remove various components of machine as required.
  • Inspects and measures finished parts to maintain statistical process control charts and verify machine repair.
  • Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Maintains a clean work environment.
  • Conducts PM's as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two to four years of trade school and or work experience or apprenticeship.
  • Ability to use and interpret fairly complicated blueprints, advanced shop mathematics, and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to analyze, plan and perform a sequence of operations where standard or recognized operation methods are available.
  • Must exercise sound judgment in making general decisions relative to machine repairs.
  • Employee is required to supply own tools.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
