Overview

Ballard's Commercial team is seeking Field Service Technicians for the East Coast, specifically in New York, as well as Northern and Southern California. The role involves repairing, refurbishing, testing, and maintaining fuel cell modules and components, ensuring high quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair, retrofit, refurbishment, and reconditioning activities for fuel cell modules and components.
• Execute mechanical and electrical repairs according to established procedures and quality standards.
• Conduct functional and leak testing to ensure equipment performance and reliability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to repair and refurbishment processes.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues on fuel cell modules.
• Support testing activities and assist in identifying root causes of product failures.
• Collaborate with advanced support teams to resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.
• Travel frequently to customer sites for maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting activities.
• Provide timely and professional technical support in the field while ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
• Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and external stakeholders.
• Train customers and service partners on module repair procedures and maintenance best practices.
• Deliver hands-on instruction and technical guidance for safe equipment operation.
• Maintain accurate work logs, repair records, and service documentation.
• Ensure all repair and testing activities are documented according to quality management requirements.
• Provide detailed feedback on product performance and service trends.

Requirements

• Technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent education in a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in field service, equipment maintenance, or a hands-on technical service environment.
• Experience with fuel cells, hydrogen systems, or industrial equipment is an asset.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience using diagnostic tools and hand tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and service documentation systems.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
