Overview

Solterra Materials is seeking an Asphalt Plant Mechanic/Welder to join their award-winning team. The position involves performing a variety of tasks related to asphalt plant operations, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties with Solterra's Core Values in mind.
  • Have strong knowledge of asphalt plant operations and electrical systems.
  • Read and comprehend repair manuals.
  • Analyze malfunctions and perform repairs.
  • Operate and inspect the plant to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantle and reassemble plant equipment using tools.
  • Weld broken parts and structural members.
  • Comply with safety regulations and foster a safety culture.
  • Identify and remedy job-site hazards.
  • Examine parts for damage and excessive wear.
  • Test overhauled equipment for efficient operation.
  • Direct and guide team members in cleaning and assembling parts.
  • Perform incidental work items within other crafts.
  • Complete any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Three to five years of industry-related experience required.
  • Must understand work directions and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrable previous experience as an Asphalt Plant Mechanic required.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Additional Information

  • Constant physical effort required during an eight-hour work shift.
  • Work performed at heights up to 60 feet.
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds frequently.
  • Work outside frequently in all weather conditions.
