Overview

The HVAC and Boiler Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of HVAC and boiler systems at County facilities, available on call 24/7.

Responsibilities

  • Operate boilers.
  • Serve as an HVAC technician.
  • Maintain and service air conditioners, circulating pumps, cooling towers, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and other components of air and heating conditioning systems.
  • Control cooling water treatment for air-conditioning systems.
  • Set up and maintain temperature balance of air-conditioning units year-round.
  • Maintain accurate clerical records and logs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Ability to understand technical literature, prints, drawings, and tables.
  • Mechanical skills and knowledge of chemical water treatment and pneumatic controls.
  • Computer literate.
  • Well organized and detail-oriented.
  • Good inter-personal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of boiler plant equipment and systems, including alternate fuels.
  • Ability to make decisions under emergency conditions.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical manuals, operating manuals, and codes.
  • Must have a valid PA driver's license.

Additional Information

  • On call twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
