Overview

The Industrial Maintenance Technician III (Maintenance Mechanic) position involves performing skilled maintenance, fabrication, overhaul, and repair of mechanical equipment in water and wastewater treatment facilities. The role requires coordination of work activities, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers.
  • Confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities.
  • Organizes tasks to complete assigned work and monitors status of work in progress.
  • Inspects completed work and assists with complex/problem situations.
  • Provides technical expertise and assists with training co-workers on operational procedures.
  • Reviews system designs and recommends changes in mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoots problems and performs preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment.
  • Fabricates and machines repair parts for equipment and operates various metalworking tools.
  • Locates leaks and detects defects in water/wastewater equipment.
  • Monitors work practices for quality control and adherence to safety standards.
  • Inputs and gathers data from SCADA and runs reports as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a training program or apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical trades.
  • Four years of experience in the repair of water and wastewater treatment plant machinery.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Must obtain a State of Georgia CDL Class B License within six months of employment.
